It's crunch time!
It certainly is crunch time with respect to three aspects of the College over these next 2 weeks. In sports, we are into the closing weeks of the winter season and Winter Sports Tournament Week. In our Senior grades, we are celebrating division winners for 1st X1 Girls footy, Open Boys Basketball, Mixed Grade Hockey, and Prem Netball toppling the unbeaten Avondale College team 44-42. Our juniors are in 5 finals on Saturday from 14A boys footy to Netball 9A, 9 White, 10A and 10B. We wish them all well and congratulate them on two terms of hard mahi to be the best they can be as the season comes to an end.
Academically we are focusing on course selection for 2023 which is sharpening the knowledge of what achievement may be needed to gain entry into courses for next year. Students must use these next 6 - 7 weeks to achieve so they can get into courses that pathway to great careers.
Covid and Flu are continuing to undermine our staff and also the pool of relievers that we have available to help cover our classes. As a result, we are running only period 1- 4 for our year 9 & 10 classes every day, Monday to Friday for the next two weeks. While this impacts a total of 8 lessons over this time it allows us to manage to deliver a continuous timetable. It's crunch time but I am optimistic we will progress well on these challenges and be better than before. Ngā mihi
