On Monday 16th and Tuesday 17th of May, 83 business students from years 12 and 13 attended a pitch event at Zeal Henderson. The pitch event was part of the Young Enterprise Scheme and counted towards their internal assessment. Students also compete for places in the regional and national finals, depending on their scores.
There are 21 participating groups; students established their own businesses, came up with product ideas earlier in the year, and then pitched their idea to a group of judges last week.
Despite the nerves, all students managed to participate, with some even joining via Zoom from isolation.
Overall, it was a successful day out for all the students, as they gained valuable experience and feedback from the judges as well as developed some essential life skills. Whilst the scores have not yet been released, there is confidence among the staff that Waitakere College will again enjoy success in the West Auckland competition.
Well done to all the students involved.
Mr Cicchini.
