This week, we welcomed our year 9 students and new teachers with a pōwhiri on the turf.
Our Kaumatua and Kuia, Matua Warahi and Whaea Linda Paki, explained that our new staff and students had become part of the Waitākere College family.
Students were encouraged to work hard, spurred on by the knowledge that they would get out of Waitākere College what they put in. However, they were told they wouldn’t be taking this journey alone. Our College is full of excellent staff who love to help our students realise their full potential; to set them on a better path. That’s why many of our teachers are here.
Our staff are ready for the new year to do what they do best: educate. We’re sure our students are too.
Matua Warahi closed his address by reminding our new staff and students that Waitākere College was the place they belonged, a place they could call home.
