“A tatou pulupulu lima fa’atasi, e māmā ai se avega” - Many hands, make light work
The Pasifika Fono started on island time (literally at 6:34mins) after technical difficulties. Still, as we are Waitak Pasifika Strong, we persevered and had 29 families attend our first Zoom Fono for 2022 (Tuesday 2nd March). The Fono covered different aspects and services offered:
- Our school Values: Learning, Caring and Respect
- Junior and Senior Dean’s expectations
- Youth Worker services
- Academies: Academic and Sport
- Online Learning
We introduced our wonderful Pasifika Prefect Team, who all bring different strengths to the table and have similar academic goals to Endorse in Level 3 NCEA:
- Talula
- Siuoa’anastasis
- Sala
- Sio
- Ryhlee
- Tevita
We also Introduced our newest member to the Komiti staff Mr Fepulea’i (Teacher of Dance and Drama).
Our goal is to make a difference with our families via our online Fono. To have them meet our Komiti Pasifika and hear which village they represent was an awesome opening for the evening.
Discussion centred around our progress in the term thus far, hearing from our Medical Science Students and our Pasifika Prefects. Our Zoom Fono proved successful with the connection and Talanoa with everyone. The ongoing provision we give as a school to ensure our students and families have that emotional welfare support is always very much appreciated.
Our motto - Achievement for all, alongside our Three Pillars - Respect, Caring, and Learning - is what makes good practice within our community, and around the school in various areas.
Malo to all who joined us via zoom.
Fakafetai Lasi to all those who attended. We look forward to meeting everyone again soon at our next Fono in Term 2, focusing on NCEA and Literacy.
