Every Day Counts

We are sharing the attendance table that our colleagues at Henderson Intermediate provided to their community last week.

This table highlights a common belief we all share about the importance of attending school consistently and regularly. Knowledge and learning occur in a sequence of steps, where the brain develops connections through nerve neurons (essentially connectors of knowledge), enabling you to grow your skills and abilities.

When you are absent from school, this vibrant experience of building and expanding your memory and knowledge is disrupted, weakening your learning pathways. If your neural pathways are not formed in your brain, the knowledge and learning you acquire may only be held in your short-term memory, making it easy to lose.

Take a look at the table to see how much you can lose from even brief absences from school. Find every reason to be present in school and in your classes so your brain can establish neural pathways, transitioning information from short-term memory to long-term memory!
