Year 10 Final March Out Parade

What was your favourite part of Services Academy training?

This was a great question posed to students by Principal Mark Shanahan during the Year 10 ‘march out’ parade this week.  This parade marks the conclusion of the Year 10 Service Academy Option for Term 3 and 4.   The answer for many students was ‘physical training’ and could have been one of many answers such as ‘introduction to field craft’, ‘introduction to navigation by day’ and ‘introduction to basic first aid’.

  • This parade was also a chance to celebrate individual achievement.  The following student achievements were recognised;
    Top Student was awarded to Freddie Kruger for constantly showing the ‘Waitākere Way’ during all training phases.
  • Most Improved Student was Leroy Ryder, Leroy led the Services Haka and was the Parade Leader.
  • The ‘Peers Choice’ certificate went to Lemuelu Aleke, this award is chosen by the students to acknowledge the person who has the most positive impact on others during training.

Congratulations to everyone.
