Last week, our Hospitality Academy held a celebratory lunch at NZMA to mark the end of the course. The students invited their parents and special guests who had supported them throughout their journey. The students took great pride in preparing a delicious meal that featured a slow-roasted cauliflower salad with chicken and couscous, followed by delightful chocolate brownies and a beautiful tiramisu for dessert.
Certificates were awarded to all students who completed the program this year. The Year 12 students will return next year for the second half of the programme, while the Year 13 students have completed their two-year tenure.
Bayleigh White, Hospitality Academy Student shares her thoughts on the year;
"Being in Hospitality Academy has been a highlight of my year. This course has provided me with many skills and knowledge such as how to prepare, create, and assemble different types of dishes. On the 24th, I, alongside the other students in the course, put these skills to use and prepared a meal for Mr. Shanahan and our teachers. Learning what it’s like to cook and prepare a meal for a large group of people was both fun and stressful, providing real experiences that we can take with us into the future. Hospitality Academy was also a great opportunity to expose myself to different cultural foods and meet a variety of new people. Something that really stuck with me from the course this year is that sometimes you don’t need to stick to the recipe, and regardless of your abilities you can have fun in the kitchen."
The Vocational Pathways team is immensely proud of these students and wishes them all the best with their future endeavours.
