Mana Māori Prizegiving at Waitākere College this year was one of the largest we have had with Rev. Wārahi Paki opening the evening. The first section of awards went to our top Māori students who showed commitment to their academic learning throughout the year. This was followed by a dance performance by Talia Royal, Bella Frost and Mya Lautaimi-Henry, choreographed by Whaea Kate Bartlett.
Awards were then presented for achievement in Kapa Haka, Te Rito Rūmaki and Te Reo. The second item of the night was a performance by Kapa Haka, Ngā Pae Maunga Waitākere. We celebrated the achievements of our senior Māori leaders, Ngā Toa o Mua and our 2024 Māori graduates. Finally, we presented our special awards as listed below. We were also able to mark the occasion by celebrating Whaea Kate Bartlett becoming a dean in 2025 and Whaea Pearl Snowden celebrating 20 years at Waitākere College.
Ngā mihi nui to all of those involved and who helped out for this special occasion.
