Waitākere College Dominates Regional YES Finals: Four of Six Teams Selected

The Young Enterprise Scheme is designed to help students establish and operate a business while fulfilling their curriculum requirements. This initiative aims to motivate and encourage students by framing the activity as a competition, starting at the regional level and progressing to a national competition. Over 4000 students across the country participate in the scheme each year and compete for the Regional prizes and then hopefully move on to compete for the National prizes. Students are required to complete 5 challenges across the year, consisting of marketing, a pitch about their business, promotion, sales and a final review about how their business went. The six highest scoring teams across these 5 challenges are selected as the Regional Finalists who compete via a pitch for the Company of the Year for West Auckland, the winner goes to represent West Auckland at the National Finals in Wellington.

This year Waitākere College had a record number of groups in the Regional Finals with 4 of the 6 places going to our students. What an amazing effort from our budding entrepreneurs!
