On Thursday, July 4th, the Year 11 Geography class went on a trip to Omaha Beach. The students were learning about the natural processes that form the features of the environment, as well as the cultural features created due to the natural landscape.
Despite it being in the middle of winter, the students were blessed with sunshine throughout the day. They completed some amazing field sketches of the wave-cut platform in the north of the beach and measured longshore drift, conveniently located by the local café.
Our day trip ended with a sandcastle competition where students were asked to depict the natural phenomena at Omaha Beach, and it was a great success. A big thanks to Ms Millar, Mr Gibbs and our student teacher, Miss Harris, for contributing to the smooth running of the day.
