Cold Nights and Long Walks

If a week of tramping 35kms while carrying a pack in the rain seems like your idea of fun, then the Year 12 Service Academy have just lived your dream.

The Service Academy Bush Craft Course was held last week. This Course was held at Woodhill Forrest. Students received instruction from members of the New Zealand Defence Force in a diverse range of subjects from navigation, individual camouflage and concealment, fire lighting, making improvised shelters and self-resilience lessons.

All the students accepted this tough challenge and coped well, they did get very excited on the last day when the vans arrived to take them home!
