Me He Tē! We are thrilled to announce that our amazing Taryn Baker (Ngāti Tamaoho, Tainui) has been selected as one of six kaituhi Māori to take part in the renowned Te Papa Tupu Programme for 2024/25! This opportunity will allow Whaea Taryn to receive guided mentorship, participate and present at Writer's Festivals throughout Australasia, and work towards publishing her debut novel The Diary of Ahurewa.
Te Papa Tupu is a highly contested writers incubator designed specifically for emerging Māori writers. Every two years, six writers are given the opportunity to be mentored by acclaimed authors and editors. Throughout the programme, writers work with their mentors to develop their manuscripts for publication.
A huge congratulations to one of our own wahine toa: an incredible inspiration to us all at Waitākere College!
Ka rawe, Whaea Taryn!
