Wild Encounters: A Day of Discovery at Auckland Zoo

The Year 13 biology students recently headed out on an educational trip to the Auckland Zoo. Their primary objective was to conduct an assessment focused on observing the behaviours of baboons and spider monkeys. Despite the rainy weather, the students persevered and managed to collect sufficient data. The atmosphere was filled with enthusiasm as the students also had the opportunity to observe and learn about other animals within the zoo.

The highlight of the trip came unexpectedly when the students had the privilege of meeting Dame Valerie Adams, renowned world champion shot putter who graciously posed for photos with the students. The zoo visit was a fantastic day, blending both fun and education out of the classroom. It provided the students with valuable hands-on learning experiences and students left with a deeper understanding of the behaviors of the animal kingdom.
