Chelsea Sugar Factory Fun

Last week, our Year 13 Business Studies students went to the iconic Chelsea sugar factory. The students went on a comprehensive tour of the factory, where they gained practical knowledge essential for their upcoming NCEA exam. Students boarded the pink Chelsea train to observe various aspects of the factory including the giant sugar mountain, the melt house, taste testing delicious syrups and learning about quality control and all the stages of sugar production.

The students made the most of the interactive zone, where they learned about the milling process and enjoyed virtual baking. Lunch was enjoyed on the grass with beautiful views of the harbour, then with a perfect ending to the trip, the students participated in a session at the Edmunds cooking school, where they learned to prepare delicious melting moments (yoyo's). Overall, it was a fantastic experience that provided the students with practical insight to complement their theoretical studies, setting them up for success in their NCEA exams.
