“Leaders are trained to lead, not born to lead”, an old saying from the Army Command School.

Our Year 12 Services Academy sent five students to attend the Service Academies Basic Leaders Course which was held at RNZAF Base Auckland. A total of 13 Schools attended with students being taught basic principles of leadership over a week long course. 

This consisted of long hours in the classroom, practical tasks, assessments and physical training. Students were instructed by the soldiers, sailors and aviators of the Youth Development Unit which is based at Whenuapai. 

Our Services Academy congratulates Gavin Boyle, Jaedyne Mayion, Minvie Villoria, Timoci Seniloli and Ryan Anderson for successfully completing this course and showing the ‘Waitākere Way’ while on the course.
