Several university students have graduated over the past few weeks. On May 8th, Miss Storer was one of the lucky individuals invited onto the stage to speak about her former professor from her undergraduate days.
Dr Danping Wang received the highest Teaching Excellence Award at the University of Auckland. Danping reached out to Miss Storer, a former student of hers who has continued her love for the Chinese language by teaching at Waitākere College, to be a student representative at this prestigious event.
Danping remarked that Miss Storer had blossomed into a remarkable educator, and her professional journey is a testament to the impact of the Chinese language program at the University of Auckland. During the ceremony, Miss Storer had the honor of reading a citation of Danping’s teaching on stage at the graduation ceremony in Spark Arena. Although speaking in front of over 1,000 people seems pretty nerve-wracking, Miss Storer admits it was surprisingly much easier than speaking at her year 12 assemblies!
If any students from Waitākere College are looking to continue their language-learning journey at the University of Auckland, you are sure to be in great hands with professors like Dr. Danping Wang.
