A couple of weeks ago, First Foundation held their annual prizegiving ceremony for the recipients of their scholarship package for 2023. The scholarship is awarded to Year 12 students throughout New Zealand to provide holistic support for study, mentorship, networking, and paid work experience.
The financial award is $12,000 over three years. Students are selected at the end of Year 12 and mentored by First Foundation throughout their degree. Only 89 recipients are selected out of approximately 400 applicants. The criteria for success are difficult to achieve, so all recipients are extremely deserving.
In 2023, Mahonri Schwalger applied and was successful through all stages of the process to gain final selection. Next year, Mahonri intends to study either Biomed or Engineering at the University of Auckland.
Our congratulations go to Mahonri and his whānau.
