We welcomed approximately 125 Year 8 students from Swanson and Waitākere Primary to our annual Taster Day this week. The event aimed to provide these young students with a firsthand experience of high school life and the various opportunities available at Waitākere College.
Throughout the day, the visiting students enthusiastically participated in a range of activities organised by the school's departments. They had the chance to dabble in science experiments using Bunsen burners and flame tests, craft wooden toys and robots in the hard materials workshop, create traditional lollie leis, take part in language buzz quizzes and even experience Tai Chi. The hands-on activities offered a diverse and interactive glimpse into the learning environment at Waitākere College.
The success of the Taster Day was made possible by the dedication and hard work of the student helpers and teachers, who organised and facilitated the day's activities and ensured the students had a blast while learning what high school is all about.
We look forward to welcoming many of these students to our school next year.
