During November, two of our Year 9 Accelerated Learning Programme (ALP) groups enjoyed a couple of outdoor adventure days. With generous funding from Sports NZ and expert instructors from Adventure Specialties, the students were able to further develop their confidence and learning skills in the great outdoors.
The students coasteered along the rocky coastline at Tāwharanui Regional Park and completed a 3km bush walk on the stunning Ōmanawanui track at Whatipū. In class, the students have been learning about ‘Wild Boy’, Brando Yelavich, and his epic trek around the coastline of Aotearoa New Zealand. They got to literally follow in his footsteps!
A big thank you to Sports NZ, Adventure Specialties, and Mr Howe for accompanying us on our own epic adventure trips.
