The Year 12 Service Academy showed what manawanui means at the Service Academy Induction Course held at RNZAF Base Auckland 15th – 24th Feb.
The course is a challenging mix of ‘Army Style’ training and adventure-based learning. Nearly 80 Year 12 students from Auckland and South Waikato attended.
The course also found its way to Tamaki Leadership Centre, which is a Navy training Facility at Whangaparoa. The course gave students a taste of life in the New Zealand Defence Force and the chance to earn NCEA Credits.
Taulima Tauti was awarded Top Student for Waitākere College, and Henry-Paul Ririnui was the most improved Student for Waitākere College. Charm Warrington excelled during the cross-country run by being the first female to finish, Charm effectively ran faster than a majority of the males.
On return to School, further awards were given to Ken Avealia, Charm Warrington and Togaiapa Osia for showing Manawanui during the course.
