Our Year 12 and 13 Accounting students spent period 5 designing biscuits for a special event. They were given an order in which they needed to design two biscuits for their customer. The practical activity was to provide a real-life example of a Job Cost system. The students were required to complete a Material Requisition form, and Timesheet, calculate overheads and complete the Job Cost card and Invoice for the biscuits. The students then had to show via general journals and general ledgers the accounting process that occurs behind the scene, allowing students to connect the practical side with the accounting process. The afternoon proved successful and we also got to see some amazing designs.
