Nau mai ki te kaareti o Waitākere!
This week we welcomed 22 students from Ritsumeikan Moriyama school in Japan (Shiga Prefecture, between Kyoto and Nagoya). Waitākere College Kiwi buddies have been fantastic ambassadors for our school, and for West Auckland, helping the students to settle in and feel more confident about English conversations.
The visiting students have been following instructions in English, hearing lots of Kiwi music, preparing speeches and debating, and doing activities based on their homestays, daily life, and Māori culture. We all enjoyed learning about legends and heroes, weaving, and poi making. Next week we are looking forward to learning how to actually use poi, and also rakau stick games!
They will end their visit to us by giving a dance performance on Thursday.
