Last week 9 Jackson were nominated by 2 different teachers:

9J Social Studies nominated by Whaea Ngawini
9J consistently demonstrates an awesome attitude towards learning showing dedication and enthusiasm in every lesson. They have taken well to our routine of entering the classroom with focus, starting with karakia and seamlessly moving into the do now and recording the whainga paetae & putanga ako. They are very respectful and have shown great manawanui since being at Waitākere College!

9J Science nominated by Mrs Riddel
This class has shown fantastic manawanui in settling into our school routines and expectations. We have done a few practicals in science already, and they have shown maturity and responsibility. They are always focused and interested in the work we are doing. They have also welcomed and supported a few students who started late into their class - an amazing start to Year 9.

This week's winner's 9 Nihotupu: With a record-breaking 3 nominations from different 3 teachers!

9N Social Studies nominated by Declan Mulcahy
A dedicated and focused class, with a calm supportive attitude towards learning. Always supportive of each other's learning always happy and enthusiastic to be in class, whether the task is literacy-heavy, or less structured, they are keen to take part and do so to the best of their ability.

9N Maths Nominated by Ros Smith
9N are consistent in their approach to work in Maths. They have an excellent attitude and come in with a mind to learn. They are quick with responses and getting to work. They help each other and definitely embody the Waitākere Way. It is a pleasure to be able to teach them Maths.

9N English nominated by Ms Mahoney-Marsh
9N has been making strong strides in developing their literacy analysis skills, after switching from The Last Spin to On The Sidewalk Bleeding, they had retained knowledge of the common theme and maintained a complex vocabulary articulating the concept of "Gangs leading to needless/unnecessary violence". Their development of essay structure has also improved with practice body paragraphs for explaining the author's message with a structure that shows growing familiarity with the first half of our TEEPEE structure.
