I took over this class for the second half of the semester to be able to give them exposure to the Engineering workshop. They have impressed me with their work ethic, their health and safety and their willingness to learn new - sometimes a bit scary- skills! They have consistently shown high levels of manawanui in working with various metals and machinery making small but intricate items. They have made keyrings from sheet Brass and Aluminium, mastered the lathe, cast using pewter and are finishing making mild steel scrap metal sculptures!
I want to thank Mr Hine and our technician Dave for their support in giving these students this valuable opportunity.
