School Nurse (Registered) 

Waitākere College is a large, co-educational, state secondary school in West Auckland that serves a truly diverse community.  
We are looking for an experienced registered nurse with a current NZ practising certificate, to work full-time (40 hrs per week).  This position can be term-time only or full-time and will be discussed in the interview process.

The role includes duties as below: 

  • Administering first aid to students and staff 
  • Completing HeEADSSS psychosocial health assessments (training provided)  
  • Promoting healthy lifestyles
  • Management of chronic conditions
  • Maintaining health records
  • Fulfilling contractual obligations to Te Whatu Ora – Health New Zealand

The ideal applicant should:

  • Be a registered nurse with a current NZ practicing certificate
  • Enjoy working with youth
  • Have post graduate qualifications in youth health/advanced nursing (or be prepared to work towards this)
  • Be committed to continuing own professional development which includes undertaking the mandatory training associated with the position
  • Be computer literate and demonstrates excellence in communication 
  • Be culturally responsive and able to work cross-culturally
  • Work collaboratively with the wider pastoral care team and education staff

Māori Youth Worker 

Waitākere College is seeking a Māori Youth Worker to support the rangatahi, whānau and kaiako of the school.  The main aspect of the job is supporting the pastoral care and wellbeing of rangatahi across all aspects of school life.   

The successful candidate will have proven experience in similar roles working with youth.   They must be proficient in the Te Reo Māori and be able to lead and support the tikanga of the College.

This is a 40 hour per week, term time only position (40 weeks per year).  You will need to have a full NZ clean driver’s licence.

As per Ministry of Education regulations, you will be required to undergo a Police Check
